Black Book Festival and Education Expo 2026
The 7th annual Black Book Festival & Education Expo 2026 is a fantastic celebration of Black authors, publishers, booksellers and educators, taking place on Saturday 24 October 2026 at Goldsmiths, University of London.
Organised by Simon Education, the festival brings the African and Caribbean community together through the power of books, knowledge and creativity.
With panel discussions, writing workshops, educational seminars and a fantastic selection of books, the event is a wonderful opportunity to discover new voices and connect with readers and fellow publishing professionals.
Lumin Books is proud to be part of this special event, as education, inspiration and empowering the next generation are at the heart of what we do. We look forward to showcasing our books and supporting an event that also raises funds for the SEADS Project, helping schools across Africa and the Caribbean.

The Black Bookcase 2026
Lumin Books is delighted to be part of The Black Bookcase 2026 on Saturday 17th October at Luton Sixth Form College, Luton, England, an exciting celebration of Black-owned businesses, creativity, culture and community.
Organised by Simply Deez Events CIC in partnership with ReadAware, the event brings together an inspiring mix of publishers, authors, booksellers, illustrators, young entrepreneurs, musicians and artists from African and Caribbean heritage.
Visitors of all ages can enjoy books, live interviews, arts and crafts, music and much more — with the event being completely FREE and open to everyone.
For Lumin Books, this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our books, connect with readers and fellow creatives, and continue our mission of educating, inspiring and empowering the next generation through books.

Black History Month Cultural Pop-Up Market
Following the incredible success of previous events in Hatfield, this exciting two-day celebration is coming to Stevenage on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October 2026 at the Westgate Shopping Centre.
The weekend will bring together Black-owned independent businesses, talented creators and the local community, with a fantastic programme of music, art, food, crafts, history, shopping, workshops and family-friendly entertainment.
Visitors can discover unique products, take part in creative workshops, enjoy live performances, connect with local community organisations and explore exhibitions and activities celebrating Black history and heritage.
For Lumin Books, this is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our books, meet families and engage with the community while supporting a vibrant celebration of Black culture, creativity, entrepreneurship and heritage.

Black British Book Festival 2026
Lumin Books is extremely pleased and proud to be part of the Black British Book Festival 2026, Europe’s largest celebration of Black literature, bringing together readers, writers, publishers and some of the most exciting voices in Black culture.
Taking place on Sunday 4 October 2026 at the Barbican Centre, London, this incredible event will bring together 6,000 people, 80+ authors and creatives for a vibrant celebration of books, culture and storytelling.
Visitors can look forward to powerful conversations, live music, poetry, masterclasses, a huge Black Book Marketplace, family activities, a dedicated Children’s Zone and much more.
We are delighted to be there representing Lumin Books and showcasing Africa ABC, Africa 123 and our other titles.

Taste of the Caribbean – Wimbledon
Get ready for a fantastic family day celebrating the vibrant food, culture and traditions of the Caribbean at the Taste of Caribbean Food Festival on Saturday 12th September 2026 in Wimbledon Park, London.
Visitors can enjoy an incredible selection of Caribbean dishes and street food, an artisan market, celebrity chef cookery demonstrations, live reggae, Motown and R&B, children’s activities and plenty of entertainment for the whole family.
It’s also a wonderful opportunity to discover and support local businesses, creatives and entrepreneurs. Lumin Books is excited to be part of the festival, showcasing our books and connecting with families and the wider community.
Come along, soak up the Caribbean atmosphere, enjoy great food and entertainment, and visit the Lumin Books stall!
The 3rd Annual Children’s Black Book Fair UK
What a fantastic and inspiring day at the Book Fair! With two floors filled with books, creativity, culture, activities and family fun, it was wonderful to see so many children engaging in reading and creative activities.
The Fair was officially opened by legendary dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson, who delivered a powerful speech and performed his classic poem “Sonny’s Lettah”. There was so much happening throughout the day, including storytelling, arts and crafts, music, workshops, hair demonstrations, chess, face painting and much more.
I was extremely busy at the Lumin Books stall, meeting lots of wonderful people and having encouraging conversations about how I can take Africa ABC and Africa 123 to a wider audience and gain greater exposure for the books.
Although I didn’t get the opportunity to experience everything happening across the Fair, I was delighted to meet some amazing people, including the iconic British actor Rudolph Walker, and to capture a special selfie together.
It was truly an uplifting celebration of books, culture, creativity and community.
A Fantastic Day at Taste of the Caribbean
What a fantastic day we had at the Taste of the Caribbean Food Festival in Stevenage on Saturday 1st August!
The weather was hot and sunny, creating a brilliant atmosphere as families and visitors came out to enjoy Caribbean food, music, entertainment and culture.
We were delighted with the response to Lumin Books, and it was wonderful to meet so many people who stopped by our stand to discover Africa ABC and Africa 123. We are pleased to say that we sold many books on the day, with lots of people taking home signed copies for their children, family and friends.
A huge thank you to everyone who visited our stand, purchased a book, supported Lumin Books and took the time to find out more about our journey.
Another successful event and another step forward in our mission to inspire, educate and celebrate Africa through books.

A Wonderful Book Launch
The Africa ABC & Africa 123 book launch on Saturday 25th July was a fantastic success!
It was wonderful to have family and friends come together to celebrate this special milestone, with many taking the opportunity to purchase signed copies of the books and show their support.
The children had a fantastic time too, enjoying the bouncy castle and being thoroughly entertained by our brilliant children’s entertainer. There was plenty of fun, laughter and great energy throughout the day!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along, supported Lumin Books and helped make the launch such a memorable occasion.
This is just the beginning — onwards and upwards!
A Successful Day at the Taste of the Caribbean
We were delighted to take Lumin Books to the Taste of the Caribbean Food Festival in Watford on Saturday 11th July, and what a fantastic day it was!
The festival brought together great food, music, culture and entertainment, creating a wonderful atmosphere for families and the wider community. It was a great opportunity for us to showcase our books, meet new readers, have meaningful conversations and share the importance of education, culture and knowledge of self.
We are pleased to say that a number of books were sold on the day, including copies of Africa ABC, Africa 123 and I AM QUIZ – JOBS. Every purchase and conversation helped us continue our mission of creating books that educate, inspire and entertain.
One of the highlights of the day was welcoming Spencer Fearon, former boxer, fight promoter and businessman, to the Lumin Books stand. Spencer purchased two signed copies of Africa ABC and Africa 123 for his son.
It was a pleasure meeting you, Spencer, and congratulations on gaining your doctorate!
As we continue to elevate ourselves and those around us, we are proud to be building a culture where knowledge, education, representation and inspiration are passed on to the next generation.
