Our publishing journey is rooted in a lived experience of poverty, resilience, and spiritual awakening, with a commitment to sharing stories that educate, empower, and celebrate the rich history, culture, and achievements of Africa and the African Diaspora.
Our founder grew up in a working-class family in 1970s London, navigating hardship, racism, and questions of identity and belonging. A lifelong pursuit of truth—shaped by history, education, influential voices, and a transformative journey to Egypt—became the foundation for Lumin Books. Today, we publish children’s and adult books that inspire curiosity, encourage knowledge of self, and promote a deeper understanding of African heritage while welcoming readers from every background and culture. Through every title we publish, our mission is simple: to create books that enlighten, empower, and leave a lasting legacy.
